We have geared this
program specifically to the "unique" attention span of 3-6 year old
children. The confidence and discipline your child develops now will
stick with them for life, and they will become unstoppable in
everything. They do!
Goals of our
Unique Program:

1. Develop social skills.
One of the main functions of the karate class will be to promote social
skills with other children and adults. Students will learn to show
respect for others with a bow, saying encouraging comments to others,
working and talking with adult teachers and helpers, to learn to
introduce themselves to others, and learning to be partners with
others. Social skills will also be evident in playing group games,
learning to line up and following instructions.
2. Develop motor skills.
Every activity you will see during a class session has a definite
purpose. While the students are having fun with games and relays, they
are unknowingly developing motor skills appropriate for their age.
This will include coordination skills, right and left side
development, flexibility, muscle strength, timing, speed drills,
mobility skills, etc. In addition, Tae Kwon Do training is one of the
best sports for overall development that will have benefits that will
transfer to other sports.
3. Promote self-discipline.
While we try to make classes fun and exciting, there will times when
karate requirements are just plain work to learn. This is where self
discipline will gradually develop through practice, repetition and
memorization. At this age, practice at home should be light and fun,
never make to be drudgery or critical.
Also, self-discipline will involve the control
of emotions and behavior in class and at the dojo.
4. Develop learning skills.
The learning process is multifaceted. Learning involves the
combination of mental, physical and emotional including listening
skills, following directions, becoming aware of one's body and how it
moves in space, receiving supportive and encouraging instruction. Age
specific learning skills and styles will be important.
5. Teach child safety.
This will include dialing 911, rules to follow when around strangers,
the correct way to talk on the phone or answer the door, our basic
self defense techniques, and much more. Our goal is to teach these
concepts in a non-threatening environment through games, discussion
and practice, with the comfort of parental involvement and trustful
teachers.
6. Develop self-confidence.
You might consider the development of self-confidence and self-esteem
as the culmination of all of the above points. Every karate student
comes with specific goals and desires. By attaining these goals the
student builds confidence and establishes higher goals, not just in
karate training but for all aspects of life.

We
train our students to the best of their ability. Some students
come to us in shape, while others have come to us 100 pounds
overweight. Most come to us with limited flexibility. Adults start
at any age, as we have had some adults who started as late as age
65, and have still earned their black belts. As a student, you are
looked upon as an individual, never compared to anyone else. Our
instructor will be there every step of the way. All that is
expected of you is a willingness to try.
Here are some benefits
you can expect from Martial Arts training:
Fitness
- The principals of kiai kenpo techniques are based on the design of
your body. For power, you develop the larger, powerful muscles of the
torso. The speed of the techniques comes from the fast, agile muscles
of the arms and legs. As you progress in Kiai Kenpo you will learn to
coordinate this speed and power, and develop a concentration to focus
all of your body's strength into a small, hard striking surface like
the edge of the hand or the heel of the foot.
Self-defense
- When the speed and power develop through Kenpo, and used in a
self-defense situation against the soft vulnerable parts of an
attacker's body, the result can be incredible. Kiai Kenpo allows a
woman to emphasize many of her natural physical strengths, such as
power in the legs, while learning a method of self-defense efficient
against a much larger opponent. Knowing you can defend yourself, your
confidence will grow. And confidence alone is usually enough to deter
potential attackers.
Self-confidence
- This does not come naturally for many people, but self-confidence
can be developed over a period of time. Through Martial Arts, as you
accomplish new goals, your confidence level increases. Kenpo & martial
arts training instills a sense of discipline and self-confidence that
can carry over to all aspects of your life.
